While the continuing 6th year students build on the events and engagements that they undertook last year as well as developing new project specific ones, the 5th yrs are asked to produce their own follow up engagement events based in a specific location which has arisen out of the engagement workshops or conferences. Sometimes this is a very direct relationship, at others it generates an interest in a particular area which the students then investigate more fully. For example - Natalie Harris responded this year to a public call at the conference to answer the question why is Piccadilly gardens is so bad for old people? Mathew Hargreaves has won a MICRA funded research project investigating how neighbourhoods can support carers - working with researchers he met at the workshops; Nadia Khalifeh and Ian Burnett are investigating the Longsight area of the city with residents of that area.
